How to win in DFS and daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel
There are lots of sports fans who like to play daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel.
I have been successful playing daily on FanDuel and here are some of my tips.
For your lineup. select players that are playing in a ballpark that is good to hitters such as in Cincinnati, Boston, Arizona, or Philadelphia.
Don't pick players who are going up against pitching aces unless you want an 0-4 night with 2 strikeouts.
Just because a player did well the night before doesn't mean they will continue to stay hot. Don't be a day late and a dollar short. For example, Justin Upton and Chase Utley have been on a tear but now they are slowing down.
Just because Giancarlo Stanton is expensive doesn't mean he will perform well every day. A cheaper outfielder such as Michael Bourn could do more damage and get you more points on a given day with stolen bases and singles.
I like to draft hitters that are on a hot streak. A player like Mike Trout is very expensive but if he is on a 4 for 35 or 2 for 24 drought, I won't select him.
Selecting a pitcher is the most important part of selecting your lineup! If you pick up a pitcher who has a bad start, you have no chance of winning. Pick up guys like Jose Fernandez or Yu Darvish even if they are very expensive. It's worth it and your competition will pick them up if you don't.
Pick a pitcher that you will think win the game as well as pick up a lot of strikeouts. Strikeouts are important and a win is four points.

Arkansas' Fred Gulley posterizes Jeff Powers on a monster dunk
Fred Gulley of Arkansas had a monster dunk on Cal's Jeff Powers in a NIT game on Monday night.
It happened in the first half with Cal up by 22 points. The 6'2 Gulley drove right and slammed the ball down on Powers for the monstrous dunk.
The refs were going to call it a charge but thankfully came to their senses after a few minutes and called it a block on Powers.
Cal eventually won 75-64 and advances to play SMU on Wednesday.

New York Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen uses racial slur on Dice K's interpreter
New York Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen used a very offensive racial slur on Daisuke Matsuzaka's interpreter during spring training.
Warthen apparently called Dice K's interperter, Jeff Cutler, a "Chinaman" and apologized to him in front of a Wall Street Journal reporter named Stu Woo who happens to be Chinese.
Cutler, who is Japanese, told Woo that he was not offended by Warthen's "joke" to him even though Warthen used a racist slur.
Woo of course was offended and didn't appreciate hearing that slur. Woo decided to to take Warthen to task and told Mets's vice president of public relations, Jay Horwitz, about the incident.
The Mets have apologized and Warthen as well.
Now I know some Americans will read this and think "What's wrong with saying "Chinaman" about an Asian man? What these people don't realize is that "Chinaman" is just as offensive to Asians as the "N word" is to African Americans.
Woo was rightfully annoyed about Warthen casually using the racial slur but I wonder what kind of repercussions will happen now.
Will the Mets not give Woo player interviews now or not help him out when he needs some quotes from the GM or manager? I don't think Warthen would ever give Woo an interview. Will Woo's media access be restricted?
Covering a team is difficult enough for beat writers and reporters and to piss off the powers that be isn't smart but I commend Woo for standing up and not letting this incident go.
Here is Woo's take on the whole situation.

Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks had hearing problem due to earwax buildup in both ears
Here's a story you probably haven't heard before about a sports athlete. Jeff Teague of the Atlanta Hawks missed shootaround on Monday because he had to see a doctor due to hearing problems in both of his ears.
The headline on AJC.com's article about Teague says "Teague sees doctor for minor ear issue" but if you can't hear out of your left or right ear, I think that is a serious and major issue.
The doctor that saw Teague removed a lot of his earwax on both ears and now Teague says "it's like a miracle" that he can hear normally again.
How was Teague able to hear his coach or teammates during the game in a loud arena? Maybe the problem was that he couldn't hear them and that is why his performance hasn't been good lately.
Teague probably could not hear any heckling fans in the arenas as well.
Teague's doctor told him not to use cotton swabs to clean his ears. Teague said that he had been using cotton swabs regularly for years so that probably caused his hearing loss.
The Hawks won 112-110 over the Jazz on Monday night but Teague was only 3-10 from the field and ended up with 14 points.
Let's hope Teague learned his lesson in not using cotton swabs anymore.

St.Peter's guard Desi Washington hits buzzer-beating 3-pointer to beat Fairfield for the 3rd time this saason
This blog post is about an incredible and true story about a team in the MAAC conference called the St.Peter's Peacocks and their junior guard named Desi Washington.
St.Peter's went on the road to play Fairfield on January 8 and Washington hit a three-pointer as time expired to help the Peacocks win 56-55. Here's the video.
These two teams had a rematch at St.Peter's on February 25 and Washington made a three-pointer with about two seconds left to win the game 63-62.
Now the two same teams played Thursday night at the first round of the MAAC Conference tournament. The game went to overtime tied at 58.
During overtime, Fairfield scored to make the score 62-62 before Washington hit another game-winning three-pointer.
How does Fairfield let this happen? Washington's third game-winning shot ended Fairfield's season.
What are the chances that a player does this to an opponent? I hope ESPN mentions this and the sports media because this is quite an amazing feat and it probably won't ever happen again in the history of college basketball.

Sacramento State player hits a 75 footer to beat Weber State in overtime
I saw the craziest basketball game and the wildest finish that I have ever seen on Saturday night when Sacramento State defeated Weber State in overtime 78-75.
The refs called a technical foul on the Sacramento State coach for arguing during a crucial point in overtime which almost cost the Hornets the game but Davion Berry of Weber State missed both technical free throws.
With Sacramento State down by a point, the refs called two technicals on Weber State in the final minute of overtime. The first technical was for calling a timeout when they had none left and the other one was for Weber State's coach arguing on the sidelines.
Was that a make-up call for calling a technical on Sacramento State? It sure seems like it.
The Hornets made all four technical free throws to go up 75-72 with about 10 seconds left when Berry tied the game with a clutch three-pointer with about two seconds left and then Dylan Garrity hit a miraculous 75 footer to end the game.
Here are videos from the game.

Portland's Bobby Sharp hits 8 three-pointers to help the Pilots beat BYU in triple overtime
Bobby Sharp of the Portland Pilots helped his team upset BYU in triple overtime on Thursday night by hitting eight three-pointers. The Pilots won 114-110.
What was so amazing about Sharp's three-pointers were that they came in the clutch and he was off-balanced on some of his shots.
Portland was down 101-97 when Sharp hit a three to get the deficit down to one point and then hit another three to tie the game at 103-103 to get the game to triple overtime. The BYU defenders were draped all over Sharp and he still swished his threes.

Video: Richard Sherman in new Beats by Dre commercial "Hear what you want"
Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks has a new commercial for Beats by Dre. It doesn't look like Sherman's rant after the game vs. the 49ers will affect his marketing value. Although fans might despise Sherman for his so-called classless antics and rants, the sports media loves him because he makes their job easier since controversy sells.

Here is the video of WWE Superstar Ric Flair giving the San Francisco 49ers a pep talk the night before they beat the Green Bay Packers on the road 23-20.
The 49ers were surprised to see the former wrestling champion show up to speak to them. What a coup by the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh to get Flair to speak to the team. Flair is from North Carolina and the Carolina Panthers and their fans won't be happy to see this video.

Steph Curry hit the game-winning midrange jumper over Shawn Marion and the Mavs on Wednesday night 95-93. The Warriors trailed by double digits for most of the game but they came back in the fourth quarter.

Chris Paul's alley oop pass to DeAndre Jordan for a dunk goes awry as the ball gets stuck on the rim
Here is something that NBA fans have probably never seen before. During the Clippers vs. Celtics game on Wednesday evening, Chris Paul passed the ball to DeAndre Jordan for a dunk but the ball didn't go through the rim. The ball got stuck on the rim instead.
I've seen balls get stuck on the rim many times on jumpers and 3 pointers but never on an attempted dunk.

Here is a video of Isaiah Thomas stuffing Bernard James at the rim in last night's Kings vs. Mavs game. Thomas is generously listed at 5'9" but he is probably only about 5'7" or so. The former Washington Huskies star showed off his hops by blocking the 6'10" James' shot.
