Strikeforce Fighters and Insiders Predict Winner of Diaz Vs. Zaromskis and Cyborg vs. Coenen
Josh "The Punk" Thomson, former Strikeforce lightweight champion (pictured above): Cyborg by destruction and Diaz by sub!
Kim Couture, Strikeforce fighter: I wish I had a good answer, but I don't know a thing about Marloes Coenen. I've never heard of her, or seen her fight. Cyborg, of course, is so strong and well rounded. I find it hard to believe anyone can touch her right now. She's definitely on top of her game!
Luke Rockhold, Strikeforce middleweight fighter: I think Cyborg is too big and too strong. I can't see Coenen lasting past the second round, and she will get overwhelmed similar to Gina Carano. There is a small chance Coenen gets the sub though.
I think Nick takes this fight in a decision or a late submisison but I can't count out Marius since he can end a fight at any time. It will be a close fight but Nick should take it if he keeps his hands up, and avoids the high kick!
Craig Oxley, Strikeforce fighter on the prelim card on Saturday night: I think if Diaz fights his fight and takes it to the ground, he wins it, but if he tries to go toe to toe with Zaromskis, I think it' s going to be a long night for him.
In the Cyborg fight, I think she is just to strong for Coenen. That's just the way I see it, but then again, that's why they fight the fights ...you just never know!
Slade Bittler, Tussle Fight Gear: The Diaz/Zaromskis fight is the easier of the two to pick. Diaz will technically pick Zaromskis apart on their feet, keeping him at a distance with his reach and poking jabs unless Zaromskis uses his strength and speed to all out tackle Diaz. But once on the ground, Diaz has the tools to finish on the top or bottom, so winner, Diaz by TKO or decision.
Cyborg and Coenen will be a great match-up, as both ladies are tough as nails. I think the edge in this case would be to Cris. Her speed and power will be too overwhelming for Coenen, but don't count her out. She has the tools to finish the job, but I just don't think she has been up against somebody as fast and strong as Santos. Cris wins by ref stoppage due to strikes.
Kerry Vu, Globalmmacomics.com:By sheer coin toss, I predict Diaz and Santos for the final outcome. Diaz perhaps by his submission game and Santos by decision, if not by knockout first.

Strikeforce Conference Call Quotes From Nick Diaz,Cyborg Santos, And More
Strikeforce had a conference call this morning and on the call were Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, Marius Zaromskis, Marloes Coenen, and Strikeforce women's champion Cyborg Santos.
Diaz and Zaromskis will be fighting for the title on January 30th on Showtime, and Santos will be defending her title against Coenen as well.
Below are quotes from the four fighters.
Nick Diaz: (When asked for an opening statement to the media) "Am i supposed to have something to say?"
"Training is going good. I'm ready to go. I'm happy to fight at 170. I have been waiting for a long time to fight in this weight class. The last two fights were not my idea. This (fighting at welteweight) is not a new thing for me."
(On Jay Hieron saying that Diaz is ducking him) " I'm just fighting who they want me to fight. I can say GSP(UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre) is a p***y because he doesn't want to fight me. I'm ready to fight anybody. I didn't know there was a problem. I'll fight anywhere.
(On what he is doing to prepare for a five-round fight) " I kick the heavy bag a lot, run extra miles, and do extra push-ups."
(On why he has not talked trash about Zaromskis yet like he has with other opponents) "I've never had a conference call with another opponent before. I just woke up dude. I don't know."
(Closing comments) I'm really honored to be the main event of this show. I just woke up. I'm ready to fight."
Marius Zaromskis: "I'm ready to fight and come to Miami. I think Nick is a very well-rounded fighter. "
"I speak Russian, Lithuanian, and some German and English."
"I don't look for a high kick in a fight. I kick a heavy bag with my legs a lot. I have done head kicks for a long time and Mirko Cro Cop was not an influence."
Cyborg Santos: "Gina Carano was just another opponent like anyone else. I didn't think about her being the face of women's MMA or anything like that."
"I was horrified by people knowing about the Playboy offer. Your appearance won't make you win a fight or not . It's your talent and what you do in the ring that matters the most."
"I want to build a family but not right now. I want to continue fighting and hold on to the title."
I usually train with men because I hurt the women.
Marloes Coenen:" I'm very happy to fight because my last title fight was 10 years ago in Tokyo. I would like to thank Scott Coker for the opportunity."
"I think women are always judged by their appearance. It will always probably stay that way."
"MMA is not big as Thai boxing is in the Netherlands. Children are getting into MMA though."
"My stand-up is ok, my wrestling is ok, and my ground game is ok."
"My goal is to never do office work again. When I grew up, there was no option for women to fight. I hope to inspire women to learn how to fight and work out."
"I might be an underdog but the hardcore MMA fans know what I can do."
"I don't think it will go five rounds at all."

What's Next For The Winners of UFC 108?
Rashad Evans was able to defeat Thiago Silva in the main event by unanimous decision, and he will most likely face Quinton "Rampage" Jackson in a few months. If Evans is able to defeat Jackson, he might get another shot at the UFC light heavyweight title currently held by Lyoto Machida.
Paul Daley made quick work of Dustin Hazelett last Saturday night and he will be facing stiffer competition in his next fight. Josh Koscheck would be a very intriguing match-up. It would be a classic match-up of striker vs. grappler. Can Daley keep the fight standing against a standout wrestler like Koscheck?
Other interesting match-ups for Daley would be Anthony "Rumble" Johnson or Ben Saunders. Daley is only 5'9 but he did not have any problems against the taller Hazelett. It would be interesting to see if he would have problems with the length of Johnson and Saunders. Johnson is 6'2 and Saunders is 6'3.
Sam Stout was very impressive in his win against Joe Lauzon. His stand-up looked very crisp, and his takedown defense was very good.
The UFC should have Stout fight Phillipe Novar. These two were scheduled to fight last year but Novar suffered a seizure before their fight and the fight had to be cancelled.
A fight against Sean Sherk would be interesting as well. Would Stout be able to stuff Sherk's takedowns?
Another winner at UFC 108 was Jim Miller. Miller was scheduled to face Sherk but Sherk had to pull out due to an injury. The UFC could have Sherk and Miller fight again or give Miler another opponent such as Clay Guida.
Heavyweight contender Junior Dos Santos won by TKO over Gilbert Yvel, and he is on track to fight for the heavyweight title if he can defeat another top heavyweight fighter. A fight between Cain Velasquez and Dos Santos would be ideal.
Velasquez is also a top contender in the heavyweight division, and this fight would eliminate one fighter from title contention.

Fans At St. Louis Rams Game Fall From The Stands
Saturday, January 2, 2010
UFC 108 Betting Lines
Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva
Evans -200
Silva +160
Evans is the favorite in the main event tonight but Silva could be a good underdog bet. Silva has knockout power and is one of the toughest fighters in the UFC. He trains with a great team and has good coaches as well. Evans has good wrestling ability and seems to have more tools to win the fight though.
Dustin Hazelett vs. Paul Daley
Hazelett -130
Daley +100
This is a fight with a contrast of styles. Daley loves to knock out guys and Hazelett wants to get the fight on the ground and submit his opponents. If the fight stays standing, Daley will knock out Hazelett, but if Hazelett can get Daley on the ground, there is a good chance Daley will be submitted.
Daley is a very strong fighter with a muscular frame, and it will be tough for Hazelett to take him down.
Joe Lauzon vs. Sam Stout
Lauzon -280
Stout +220
This is another fight where the underdog has a good chance of pulling the upset. Lauzon seems to have more skills than Stout though and is more of a well-rounded fighter than Stout. Stout likes to keep the fight on the feet.
Jim Miller vs. Duane Ludwig
Miller -450
Ludwig +325
Miller should win this fight but the line is very high here. Miller is not a big name in the UFC and he is too heavy of a favorite in this fight. Ludwig is a solid veteran with lots of experience.
Junior Dos Santos vs. Gilbert Yvel
Dos Santos -350
Yvel +275
This will be a good heavyweight brawl. Dos Santos is in contention for a title shot if he keeps on winning and Yvel is making his UFC debut. One of these guys is going to get knocked out tonight. This will be a good test for Dos Santos.
