Here is ESPN sideline reporter Heather Cox asking inappropriate questions to Florida State QB Jameis Winston after Florida State beat Duke 45-7 in the ACC championship game. Winston was happy his team won but was disturbed by the questions from Cox regarding the rape investigation.
College football fans on Twitter were outraged with Cox after this interview and some demanded her to be fired from ESPN.
There is a time and place for all questions…..That was not it….Pretty Cheap On Heather Cox part….
ReplyDeleteThis is probably my best opportunity to say "Get rid of all these female sideline reporterettes everywhere". They offer nothing but foolish questions and are an embarrassment to women.
ReplyDeleteAlso, on another subject but related, get rid of all the childish, giggling commentators at Fox and the never-ending chatterboxes in the broadcast booth (see Vernon Davis).

ReplyDeleteThe allegations against Jameis Winston were investigated and the State Attorney's Office determined that the case did not merit going forward for prosecution.
ReplyDeleteESPN and Heather Cox knew this before game time. For her to confront this potential Heisman Trophy winner, following another strong performance, discredited her and the ESPN Producer who gave her the assignment. For fear of sounding Chauvinistic (is this even a word anymore?), Cox, the Producer, and whoever else was involved in this poorly made decision should be terminated.
Puhlease! If Winston was you or me and not the QB of FSU heading to a BSC title. He'd be in jail!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comments because it is unprofessional and disrespectful. Winston could have tore her a new one but he showed class unlike Miss Cox. She will have to apologize if she wants to cover the Florida State title game or they won't grant her access. Winston was the bigger man. Cox had nothing but an agenda! She is a sideline reporter or a 60 minutes reporter?

The State Attorney in Leon County for the 2nd Judicial Circuit did a very thorough investigation and, if anything, he has always held college athletes to a higher standard than the avg citizen.

ReplyDeleteThe so called victim was a member of a group of girls that chase athletes, "cleat chasers". She had already had oral sex with half a dozen other athletes not just football players. The witnesses, 2 guys and another girl were watching. EK, the girl, got mad at Jameis because he could not see while his girlfriend was in town the next day. She got mad and called the FSU police then got scared when they called the Tally police. That's when she gave the poor description of the attacker...5' 9" with straight hair. This story is over. Never was a crime, period.

Winston showed during the game that he is out of control and there's no question the charges were brushed aside when they would not have been in any other town but Tallahassee. Heather Cox, along with most women, was offended by this guy getting off.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding job by FSU and the Winston legal team during that interview...notice at the 1:31 mark his shirt gets tugged on the right side, he turns then walks away. Coaching a young naive athlete to handle interviews just after a very exciting and emotional game. That tug kept him from injuring himself.
