NFL Week 8 Picks and Winners with Analysis
Another winning day yesterday as I posted winning upsets on Twitter with UNLV +6 and Tulane +2 both winning straight up. My big play on Buffalo -2 was a winner as well as they smashed Kent State.
This Sunday in Week 8, I like the money line parlay with the Kansas City Chiefs, Bengals, Packers, Seahawks, and the Saints.
The Chiefs should win as the Browns are playing Jason Campbell at QB.
The Bengals are playing the tough Jets who have a great defense but the Jets are still partying it up after their big win last week against the Patriots. Today they will have a letdown and the Bengals are back at home in front of their loyal fans.
The Packers play the Vikings on Sunday night and although there are many WR injuries on the Packers team, they still have one of the best QBs in the NFL behind center. Christian Ponder starts for the Vikings and he might be able to dink and dunk but he can't win a shootout against Aaron Rodgers.
The Seahawks vs. Rams game on Monday night is a no brainer. Seahawks will dominate. The Rams can't stop the run to save their lives and they have a back up QB starting.
I do believe the Bills could give the Saints a run for their money but this is the second straight game on the road for the Bills. Sure they defeated the Dolphins last week but they won't beat Drew Brees inside the dome today. They won last week due to three horrible turnovers by Ryan Tannenhill and Brees won't make the same mistakes.
I do love the Bills' defense though especially their defensive line which is the best in football.
Other picks are Over 51 in Cowboys/Lions and Over 57.5 in Broncos/Redskins.
Two upset picks are Dolphins +5.5 over the Patriots and Redskins +10 over Denver.
The Dolphins looked horrible last week but they have all their guys back on defense today against Tom Brady and this is not the Brady of old. Brady and Eli Manning are two QBs that have seen their stock fall this season.
No Aquib Talib for the Patriots means Mike Wallace can run free and I expect him to make some big plays down the field for the Dolphins.
The Redskins might be a bad team on defense but they can win a shootout against a bad Denver defense.

NFL Free Pick Parlay
As posted on Twitter, my free parlay pick this weekend in the NFL is a money line parlay with the Chargers/Panthers/Dolphins.
The Chargers are a way better team than the Jaguars and the Jaguars are 0-6 for a reason.
The Panthers will beat the Rams at home and this is the first outside game for the Rams all season. It is not easy playing back to back road games in the NFL as well and the Rams played at Houston last week.
The Dolphins are coming off a well needed bye week and will be ready to rumble at home against the Bills.

A lot of fight fans are asking for the full fight video of Gilbert Melendez vs. Diego Sanchez from UFC 166 so here is the link to the full fight.

Some say it is the Fight of the Year but I don't think so. The third and final round was great with both fighters trading and eating punches but the first two rounds were nothing special. It was by no means a technical third round and just a round full of fisticuffs.

Waiting in line for the Apple iPhone 5S at the Apple Store in Stonestown
Here are some pictures from people waiting in line for the iPhone 5S at the Apple store at Stonestown Mall in San Francisco.
The first guy showed up in line around 2pm on Thursday afternoon.
Here are pics of people waiting in line early in the am. It's a good thing there was no rain and it wasn't too cold.
Lots of people were prepared with their folding chairs and water.
Look at the line for Verizon! Only three people in line all morning!
Security at the mall is in full force.
Apple store is now finally opened at 8am and the first few people in line are ready to buy their gold 5S iPhones!
Some people in line were angry and pissed off that Apple only had limited gold colored 5S iPhones. The Apple employee is having a standoff here with a disappointed customer.
Here is a woman trying to sell iPhone cases to everyone in line as she owns a kiosk right next to the Apple store.

Bay Area sports stars do a PSA ad to support the LBGT community
Bay Area sports stars such as Vernon Davis, Barry Zito, Coco Crisp, Joe Thornton, and Klay Thompson are in new PSA ads that support the LBGT community.
In the ads, the athletes talk about supporting gay athletes and that the only thing that matters is winning and being able to play.
Do all of these athletes believe what they are actually saying in the PSA? Who knows? This is great PR for the Bay Area sports teams involved in the PSA though.

San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee calls Warriors' guard Stephen Curry "Steve Curry" during Golden State Warriors Day
It was "Golden State Warriors Day" in San Francisco on Tuesday as the mayor, Ed Lee, gave the key to the city to Warriors' guard Stephen Curry.
During the almost 40 minute presentation, Mayor Lee said "You give Steve Curry an inch and he might take a Golden State mile!"
Lee is a huge sports fan and he is riding high right now as the Giants are World Series champions, the Warriors are moving to a new arena in San Francisco in a few years, and Super Bowl L will be hosted by the city.
For the full video and presentation, click on the video below. If you only want to see the part (29:40 mark of video) where the mayor calls Stephen Curry "Steve Curry," click on the second video. The video will take longer to load up than the full video.

Stephen Curry of the Warriors beats ESPN's Rick Reilly in a 3 point/half court contest to help fight malaria
Warriors guard Stephen Curry and ESPN's Rick Reilly joined forces to help fight malaria in Africa. In this video, Reilly and Curry challenge each other in a shooting competition.
Reilly tells Curry that he can make more three-point shots than Curry can make half court shots and the loser has to wear nothing but a net.

Joe Montana met Colin Kaepernick at the Tri Star card show this past weekend and posted the above picture for his followers on Twitter.
Montana's caption for the picture was "Had a fun time talking to @Kaepernick7. Do you #49erfans remember when my arms were that big?"
No Joe, we don't remember you having arms that big but we will always remember the great Super Bowl wins and come from behind victories you had as a 49er.

Video: Cal coach Mike Montgomery shoves Allen Crabbe
Below is the video of Cal coach Mike Montgomery shoving his star player, Allen Crabbe, during a timeout in the second half of the Cal vs. USC game on Sunday night.
Montgomery was angry that Crabbe didn't seem focused on the game and was down on himself. The shove actually helped the Cal team as they rallied back from a 15 point deficit to win 76-68.
Crabbe had 23 points and hit crucial back to back three pointers from the top of the key to ignite the Bears' rally.
After the game, Montgomery said, "I was asking him if he wanted to play. he had no expression. We needed a wake-up call." Crabbe agreed with his coach and said the shove was not a big deal.
Sandy Barbour, Cal's athletic director, released a statement after the game.
“Sunday’s game was an emotional one for everyone who cares deeply about our men’s basketball program, and the Bears certainly showed tremendous resolve coming back to earn a win over USC. However, it is unacceptable for our coaches to have physical contact with student-athletes regardless of the circumstances. The second-half incident was certainly out of character for Mike Montgomery, and I am confident that something like this will not happen again.”

Jeremy Lin swats a shot and then goes coast to coast for a dunk on Francisco Garcia
Jeremy Lin had a block on one end of the court and then went coast to coast for a dunk on Francisco Garcia of the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. Those two impressive plays were not enough though for the Houston Rockets as the Kings won 117-111.
Lin finished with 12 points but fouled out.
