The Milwaukee Brewers are in serious trouble of falling out of the NL Central race as they head out West for a big road trip starting today at Arizona. The Brew Crew were America's darlings this season as players such as J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder made the All Star Team. Fielder also recently made the cover of ESPN the Magazine. Now their dream season is about to fall apart.
They were sitting pretty all season in first place until last week when the Cubs took over first place. With the Cardinals and Cubs fighting for first, the Brewers are now on the outside looking in. The demise of the Brewers is in part due to their lack of quality starting pitching. Their big free agent, Jeff Suppan, has fared poorly all season and their ace, Ben Sheets, has been injured and won't be back until the end of this month. Chris Capuano continues to lose and pitch poorly and they have lost his last 16 starts.
Yesterday was a great example of what has gone wrong for Milwaukee. With home runs by Bill Hall, Ryan Braun, and Fielder, the Brewers jumped to a 5-0 lead over the Reds. Capuano cruises along through 5 innings until he gets hammered again. Disaster always follows him around the 5th or 6th inning in every start as he starts to give up homers, hits batters, and loses command of the strike zone. The Reds rallied to tie the game until Hardy hits a homer to give them the lead at 6-5.
Manager Ned Yost keeps reliever Scott Linebrink in the game in the 8th even though he has Derrick Turnbow available. Linebrink loads up the bases and pinch hitter Javiar Valentin is up next. Valentin is hitting .213 when facing a lefty. So what does Yost do? Does he bring in a lefty reliever or keep Linebrink in the game? Unfortunately for the sellout crowd, he stayed with Linebrink who gave up a 2 run double to Valentin as the Reds go on to win 7-6. Criticism of Yost is at an all time high. The fans are disgruntled and calling for his head. He is as popular in Milwaukee as Bud Selig is in San Francisco.
Although the team is in a downward spiral, the fans in Milwaukee should not despair too much. They should be grateful that they are in a pennant race this late into the season, which you can't say for a lot of teams. With youngsters like Fielder and Ryan Braun, this team leads the National League in home runs. The best solution for them is to try to hold on until Sheets can return and pitch every fifth day. For now, the only way for them to start winning is to try to outslug opponents.

Bud Selig is a coward and a jerk

Need I say more? MLB Commissioner Bud Selig is a lowlife loser and idiot. The man shows up to get face time on television thinking he is the real star and not Barry Bonds. ESPN cameras keep on showing him at the game last night as Barry hit his homer. When Bonds was rounding the bases and the fans were cheering and standing, Selig instead put his hands in his pockets. No applause whatsoever. Selig had nothing but a stoic reaction. The nerdy commissioner then issued a statement that was supposed to congratulate Bonds but the way it was worded was very sneaky and troublesome. Bonds is a classy individual and has always said kind words about Selig and how Selig was always good to his father, Bobby. Bonds invited Selig to come and talk to him as Selig has not once talked to Bonds even though he has shown up for most of the Giants' recent games. Giants fans prefer Selig to not show up because no one likes party poopers and losers. Sorry Bud, but you are the worst. If I was Bonds, I don't think I could control my anger at the haters. I have so much respect
for Bonds for taking the high road once again. Bonds is as classy as San Diego. The fans were great and showed their respect and admiration with a standing ovation when he hit the home run, when he walked to left field after the inning was over, and when he left the game for a pinch runner. I wish that Renel, the Giants stadium announcer, would introduce Selig at the game tomorrow. The fans would be booing him twice as loud as they do the Dodgers and the departed Armando Benetiz combined. Bud, you are
embarrassing yourself each time you speak out in public with your awkward look and idotic quotes. Do everyone a favor and step down and retire. It would be for the best. The only place where you should show your face is at Brewers games. Selig is the biggest disgrace in sports. Now " Let's Go Cubs!!!"

Why San Francisco Loves Barry Bonds

As the media continues to focus on Barry Bonds, many people have wondered why San Francisco fans embrace the controversial player. The answer is pretty simple. Barry Bonds is the greatest player of our time. Never have we seen a greater player with more talent and skill on the baseball field. San Francisco Giants fans have had the privilege to watch this man play for the past 15 years. Bonds brings excitement and energy to every ballpark he plays at. You can feel the energy and buzz each time he is at bat as fans clamor around to get a better view and take pictures. Bonds does not just hit home runs but he also played left field exceptionally when he was in his prime. He was the total package. Bonds very well could be more appreciated when he retires and get more respect than right now. In the meantime he is truly a marvel to watch. How many other hitters do you see that is in control of an bat even when the count is 0-2? Zero. The media will bash Bonds daily but the fans in San Francisco love him. The local paper here loves to have their columnists and reporters ridicule Bonds but the fans are smarter than that. They don't care what the media says. The fans show their respect and admiration for Bonds each time he steps to the plate. The ballpark janitor stops mopping the floors, the fans stop buying food at the concession stands and going to the bathrooms, and the ushers turn around and face the field. It is all eyes on Barry. The crowd goes wild and stand up in unison while chanting his name. But America has shunned Bonds. They have turned their backs on the soon to be home run king. He is roundly booed everywhere he goes. Little kids who don't know any better boo along with their fathers and mothers. I have seen a little boy hold asterisk signs while his dad belts out more vicious remarks to Barry in left field. Why? The baseball fans around the country have been brainwashed into thinking Bonds is a jerk. Who said Bonds is a jerk? How about 99.9% of the media? I hope my readers don't fall for the tactics of the media. The media hates Bonds because he does not grant many interviews and often has a surly attitude towards them. On the other hand, his peers respect and admire him. Great players like David Ortiz, Ryan Howard, John Smoltz, Alex Rodriguez, and Dontrelle Willis are all members of the Barry Bonds fan club. Trust me when I say that if Barry Bonds was on your team, you would be giving him a standing ovation and taking snapshots of his at bats every single day. Steroids or no steroids, Bonds is the best there is. Fans in Houston boo him vociferously when the Astros play the Giants. The very same fans who call noted steroid abuser Ken Caminiti a hero. Can we talk about hypocrisy? Bonds should not be the poster child for steroids. I almost forgot to mention all the pitchers that have gotten away with illegal substances and drugs. How many pitchers have we seen who went from having a 89 mph fastball to a 95 mph fastball? How many pitchers have had their shoulders and other body parts blown out and blame it on the wear and tear of throwing a baseball instead of admitting they injected steroids? Barry Bonds has brought excitement and joy to many baseball fans across America. It was wonderful how the fans voted him into the All Star game and how San Francisco gave him a rousing standing ovation when he was introduced. The man deserves it. You know that I will be one of the thousands of fans who will make it to 24 Willie Mays Plaza this week to watch him break Hank Aaron's record. We will be on our feet and cheering and supporting him the whole way. When I get old, I will tell my kids and grandkids about the greatest baseball player of my time and his name is Barry Lamar Bonds.
