Meredith DiVita interview with James "Intensity" Terry
The very beautiful Meredith DiVita interviewed Strikeforce fighter, James "Intensity" Terry, yesterday about his upcoming main event fight against Caros Fodor.
The fight will be a part of the Strikeforce Challengers card on June 24 which will be shown on Showtime.
In the video interview below, Terry talks about Fodor, why he likes to kickbox and knock people out, and how close he thinks he is from a title shot against Strikeforce lightweight champion, Gilbert Melendez.
Terry also tells DiVita that he has a lot of respect for fellow Strikeforce lightweight, Ryan Couture, but he feels he would beat him badly.
I have seen some previous interviews with Terry before and he looked more focused and intensed in this interview than in any other interview he has had.
Terry showed much more personality and charisma in this video interview than in all of his other interviews combined.
Let's hope he brings the intensity Friday night in his fight against Fodor so the fans can be entertained.
Deshon Marman gets arrested on US Airways flight due to not pulling up his pants
Former Lincoln High School graduate Deshon Marman was arrested for resisting arrest after arguing with US Airway employees and security about his pants sagging down.
Is this racist? Most likely. The US Airways employees should be ashamed of themselves for singling out the young Black male who now plays football for the University of New Mexico.

Why the Arizona Diamondbacks can win the NL West
If you read the local Bay Area newspapers or listen to the San Francisco Giants' flagship station, KNBR, you would think that the Arizona Diamondbacks have no shot of winning the NL West.
The local sportswriters and sports talk radio hosts in the Bay Area are always quick to dismiss the Diamondbacks as serious contenders.
I strongly disagree with these nonbelievers of the Diamondbacks though. How can you dismiss a team that plays their home games in a hitters' haven and have legitimate power bats such as Justin Upton and Chris Young?
Arizona also has a quality shortstop in Stephen Drew and a savvy veteran catcher in Miguel Montero.
3B Ryan Roberts isn't too shabby either with 10 homers and 28 RBIs.
How can you say a team can't contend when they lead the NL in homers and slugging percentage?
The Diamondbacks' pitching staff was a weakness for them in 2010 but they are a lot better this year.
Last year, the bullpen would give up leads and blow saves but Arizona now has a steady bullpen led by their closer J.J. Putz.
Their starting rotation is led by youngsters like Ian Kennedy, Daniel Hudson, and Josh Collmenter. Veteran lefties Zach Duke and Joe Saunders round up their starting five.
Collmenter is in the running for Rookie of the Year and his awkward delivery makes it hard for hitters to time his pitches. Kennedy pitches like a veteran and has a lot of poise while Hudson has a great fastball.
The Giants are not going to run away with the division because they can't hit at all. Every win for the Giants is a one-run affair and the only reason they are in first place is because of their pitching.

San Francisco Giants vs Cincinnati Reds Series Preview
Dusty Baker and the Reds head out to the West Coast for a seven game road trip starting Thursday night in San Francisco for four games before heading to Los Angeles to play the Dodgers.
The Reds are in third place in the NL Central and are five games back of the first place Cardinals.
The two best hitters on the Reds are Joey Votto and Jay Bruce. The good news for the Giants is that they are both left handed and left handed hitters don't usually fare very well in AT&T Park.
Besides Votto and Bruce, the only other dangerous batter in their lineup is 2B Brandon Phillips. 3B Scott Rolen is still a good hitter but he has been ill with a throat issue.
The Giants will see two former teammates in this series as SS Edgar Renteria and OF Fred Lewis will be getting their World Series rings on Thursday.
Neither Renteria or Lewis have contributed much to the Reds' offense so far this season. Lewis gets an occasional start in left field against right handers while Renteria is backing up the offensively inept Paul Janish.
The pitching match-ups are Johnny Cueto vs. Madison Bumgarner on Thursday, Travis Wood vs. Ryan Vogelsong on Friday, Mike Leake vs. Tim Lincecum on Saturday afternoon, and Edison Volquez vs. Jonathan Sanchez on Sunday night.

Monday Morning Thoughts:Mavs vs Heat NBA Finals, Plaxico Burress released from jail, and Bob Geren to be fired?
It is good to know that today is the day that former New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress gets to come home. He will be released from jail today after serving two years for shooting himself with his gun at a club in New York.
He is now 34 years old but I expect and hope that he will revive his career just like Michael Vick did. Lots of teams could use a talented and tall WR like Burress.
UFC's TUF 13 Finale on Saturday night in Las Vegas had a main event that didn't live up to its hype. Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida fought basically to a standstill for three rounds. Guida got the takedowns to win by unanimous decision but there was hardly a scratch on Pettis' face.
Let's hope UFC 131 this Saturday night will be more exciting with Shane Carwin vs. Junior Dos Santos as the main event.
Another close game last night between the Heat and the Mavs in the NBA Finals. The Heat won the game 88-86.
The key to the win was Dwyane Wade's clutch three-pointer in the fourth quarter to give the Heat a 84-78 lead. Jason Kidd was guarding Wade on that play and he should have forced Wade to drive and make a shot in the paint rather than give him the three from the top of the key.
According to former NBA ref Tim Donaghy, the NBA and David Stern will break even if the series goes five games and if it goes more than five, the NBA will make millions.
The San Francisco Giants are fortunate that Buster Posey hurt his leg in late May rather than in late August or September. This gives the team and GM Brian Sabean more time to find a replacement for Posey.
I would not be surprised if the Oakland A's fire Bob Geren on this East Coast road trip. The A's have lost six in a row.

Inside the Numbers: Why the Oakland A's can't score runs and why Bob Geren might get fired
The Oakland A's are only 27-30 and in last place in the American League West. Their pitching has been solid this season even without the services of Dallas Braden for most of the season.
The problem with the A's is their pathetic offense which many fans thought would get better after a horrendous 2010 season.
The A's got a new hitting coach this season in Gerald Perry but that has not helped matters.
Here's a look at the woeful stats and numbers so far this season.
Second to last in home runs in the majors with only 32 homers. Josh Willingham leads the team with 10 homers.
Second to last in the AL in slugging percentage and on base percentage
Second to last in the AL in batting average. They are only batting .240 as a team.
Third to last in the AL in RBIs with only 192 RBIs
Third to last in runs per game with only 3.54 runs
Players like Daric Barton, Kurt Suzuki, and Hideki Matsui were counted on before the year started to be run producers but all three batters have struggled mightily so far.
2B Mark Ellis is only batting .214 with one homer and SS Cliff Pennington only has a .256 average with a poor .307 on base percentage.
The A's got swept at home by the Yankees and now embark on a 10 game road trip to Boston, Baltimore, and Chicago.
f they have a bad road trip, I would not be surprised if GM Billy Beane fires his good friend Bob Geren.

UFC 130 Rampage Jackson vs Matt Hamill post-show thoughts
Overall show was just ok. The main event and co-main event were not very good fights.
Rampage Jackson did enough to earn a title shot against Jon Jones but not many will pick him to win against Jones.
Hamill said he would break Rampage's will but it was Hamil's will that got broken during the fight when he was unable to take down Rampage in the fight.
No surprise that Rick Story upset Thiago Alves. Alves has trouble with wrestlers and Story had a great game plan.
Fans booed Story because they wanted to see Alves deliver a highlight-reel knockout.
Rampage got booed as well because he couldn't finish Hamill. It was smart of Rampage to not mention the boos during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
Brian Stann was impressive against Jorge Santiago. No surprise that Santiago lost as he has not been successful in the UFC and has been knocked out a lot in his career.
Travis Browne's Superman punch knockout of Stefan Struve was exciting. Browne needed a good win because his last fight against Cheick Kongo was boring.
San Francisco's Chris Cariaso fought well in his decision loss to Modesto's Michael McDonald. I think the fight could have gone either way.
Middleweight Tim Boetsch looked great dominating Kendall Grove. It seemed like he broke Grove's will during the fight with his ability to take down Grove.
Most controversial fight was Demetrious Johnson's decision win over Miguel Torres. The back and forth fight could have gone either way but the judges gave it to Johnson.
Dana White was critical of Frank Mir and Roy Nelson for their performances. I don't know what White expected from them. These are two big heavyweights and it wasn't a great match-up to begin with.

to Buster Posey's gruesome collision at home plate last night with Scott Cousins of the Florida Marlins.
Dirty play or clean hit? It doesn't matter because if I am part of the Giants, I would be very angry regardless. A reserve on the Marlins takes out your best hitter for possibly the whole season?
I don't expect any retaliation this afternoon though by the Giants. It was a "baseball play" and these collisions happen in a game. I don't think Cousins needed to smash Posey on that play though as I think he could have slid in and still have been safe.

I guess the TNT cameraman did not know they were back on the air. I wonder what his excuse is for zooming in on the hot women of Miami and checking out their cleavage?

Why I don't watch The Ultimate Fighter 13
I used to be a big fan of UFC's The Ultimate Fighter(TUF) reality TV show. The first few seasons were captivating and interesting. The TUF series made stars out of fighters such as Forrest Griffin, Michael Bisping, Rashad Evans, and Josh Koscheck, and Chris Leben.
Unfortunately, the show has gone stale and there is no reason to watch it anymore. TUF 13, which is on SPIKE TV every Wednesday night, has had very low ratings. Fans are tired of seeing boring fighters and fights on the show and the coaches this season (Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos) are not creating enough drama to warrant viewership.
The UFC thought that having Lesnar on TUF 13 would spike up the ratings but this hasn't been the case. Maybe it is because Lesnar isn't the heavyweight champion anymore or maybe it is because Lesnar is calmer and more mellow than before.
Casual MMA fans don't know who Dos Santos is even though he is one of the best heavyweights in the world. Lesnar and Dos Santos have been cordial to each other in the episodes, and there is no tension between them.
Fans used to flock to their TV sets to watch Ken Shamrock and Tito Ortiz go at each other verbally every week on TUF 3. Rashad Evans and Quinton Jackson as coaches on TUF 10 helped ratings too as well as having street fighter Kimbo Slice on the show.
The smart fans are sick and tired of the UFC and SPIKE TV hyping up the episodes and not delivering. Who can forget the weekly previews that implied Kimbo would fight again on TUF 10 even though he lost and was out of the competition already?
How about the time when Dana White kept on saying that one of the fighters on the show (Philipe Nover) was going to be the next Andeson Silva? Nover isn't even in the UFC anymore after getting cut.
I can't even name one of the fighters on TUF 13. I do know who Lew Polley is since I saw an episode where Polley( Dos Santos' wrestling coach) was riding the guys too hard in practice.
None of the fighters stand out and I don't think there is a future UFC champion on TUF 13.
WWE's Tough Enough reality show is way more interesting than TUF 13 thanks to the charismatic Stone Cold Austin. Austin has more charisma than all the TUF 13 coaches and fighters combined.
It doesn't really matter who the coaches will be on TUF 14 because the show is getting old and boring. The best option might be to have Evans and Jon Jones as coaches and bring in better fighters and personaltiies to compete.
If Evans and Jones are not available, I think I would rather see Miesha Tate and Gina Carano as coaches than any of the male fighters on the Zuffa roster.

Huge brawl and fight between fans at the Rogers Centre at UFC 129
55,000 fans were at the Rogers Centre in Toronto to watch UFC 129 last Saturday night and below is a video of a huge brawl and fight between young fans in the stands.

I got to admit this was one funny video. Is it going to be controversial or appropriate? I'm not sure but it made me laugh. I'm sure this video will go viral soon.
The video is for a company selling energy strips called Sheets. It already has LeBron James in an ad as well. I wonder if these strips really work. I doubt it's a magic pill or anything and make me play as good as LeBron or shoot like Gallinari.

Why I don't watch Bellator fights on MTV2
Bellator is the number two fighting promotion in the United States after the UFC bought Strikeforce but I just can't get into their shows or their fighters. They have a show every Saturday night on the cable channel MTV2 but not every cable subscriber even gets that channel.
Having weekly shows on Saturday nights is a bad idea because at least once a month they have to compete with a UFC pay per view show, and there are also lots of other things to do on a Saturday night besides watching MMA fighters that you have never heard of.
I consider myself a big fan of MMA and even I don't watch their shows. I did watch their shows when they were on Thursday nights on the local Comcast or Fox affiliate. Back then, they had fighters like Roger Huerta on their shows.
Huerta is known by fans who watch the UFC but these days, the current crop of fighters on a Bellator card are basically unknowns.
How many of the Bellator fighters would make it in the UFC? I think Ben Askren, Eddie Alvarez, and Hector Lombard come to mind but the rest of their roster are just a bunch of guys that even the hardcore fans would not even recognize.
While the UFC is like the NFL of MMA, Bellator is like the UFL(United Football League). Fans don't know or care about the organization or the athletes.
Bellator would probably be more successful if they promoted their fighters better. As much as fans want to see entertaining fights, they also want to know about the fighters inside the cage. Fans want to get behind a fighter and cheer that fighter on, or hate a fighter so much that they want to see that fighter get knocked out.

A lot of these fighters have interesting stories and personalities but it doesn't matter when no one knows who they are or anything about them.
No one is going to stay home and watch nameless fighters on a Saturday night when there are a lot of other alternatives and options as far as entertainment goes.
For example, the past card had a fight between Richard Hale and D.J. Linderman. Who are these guys? That's the problem that Bellator faces as they go forward.
If fans don't care about the fighters, they won't watch the fights. UFC 129 is this Saturday night and the casual MMA fan doesn't even know who Jake Shields is.
Shields is the challenger in the main event at UFC 129.
How can you expect them to want to watch Richard Hale fight on a Bellator show when they don't even know who Jake Shields is?
What Bellator might need to do is sign some UFC veterans that might be available to them in the near future. For example, Tito Ortiz would be a great addition to Bellator. Many fans would tune into a Bellator show to watch Ortiz fight even if his best days might be behind him.
I don't think having their shows on MTV2 helps them as not every fan gets MTV2. It might be better if their shows were on HDNet or another cable channel that is more widely available than MTV2.
I hope Bellator will be successful and I'm sure I will tune into one of their shows once again, but right now, I rather go out on a Saturday night than stay in and watch their fights.

What an amazing shot by Denver Nugget J.R. Smith! Check out this great video below as Smith throws the ball like he is Tim Tebow. You need to have a strong arm and shoulder to be able to perform this throw/pass. Very impressive!

San Francisco McDonald's fight during the World Series: Huge brawl
The good stuff happens after the 1:15 mark or so and a shirtless customer actually gets behind the counter later on in the video as he tries to fend off two big Latino men. This is a huge brawl and doesn't reflect on San Francisco very well at all.
I've been to this McDonald's right near AT&T ballpark many times and never seen such foolishness and drama.
