Giants Should Start Youth Movement Immediately

The Giants lost to the Dodgers last night 3-2 after Rafael Furcal scored from second base on an infield single by Delwyn Young. Keiichi Yabu took the loss but the blame should go to 2B Ray Durham.

Durham should have thrown Young's grounder to home plate instead of first base. The worst thing that should have happened was having the bases loaded for the Dodgers.

The Giants are now 0-2 and the season is already over. The season was actually over before it began when they decided to let Barry Bonds and Pedro Feliz go and got nothing in return in trades or free agency.

As much as the Giants will miss Bonds, they will also miss Feliz's bat and his great defense at third base. Jose Castillo will make Giants fans wish they never criticized Feliz.

It is time for the Giants to go with a youth movement. The veterans are getting worst and not better. Do the Giants really expect veterans like Randy Winn, Dave Roberts, and Rich Aurelia to improve and make progress? Why won't they start youngsters like Freddie Lewis, Daniel Ortmeier, and Eugenio Velez? The answer to that is because Bruce Bochy loves veterans. Bochy doesn't want to play youngsters who are raw and learning the ropes. He wants to win and win now. Bochy is no spring chicken himself and did not expect the Giants to have to rebuild in his second year managing the club. He cares about his managerial win-loss record and is none too pleased about the L's that will keep piling up on his record this season.

The fans out here in the Bay Area don't want to see the boring veterans anymore. They want to see some new blood and an infusion of youth. The Giants starting lineup is almost as old as the ushers and "ball dudes" at 24 Willie Mays Plaza.

Rookies like Brian Bocock showed more plate discipline than Aurelia last night. Velez looked better at the plate than Roberts.

Matt Cain pitched very well last night but just like last year, the offense failed him. The look on his face after every scoreless inning by the Giants showed frustration and anger. Fans are wondering when this guy will snap. I am just wondering when this losing streak will be snapped.

We could be headed to another low-scoring ball game tonight as Tim Lincecum takes the mound against Chad Billingsley. Lincecum was impressive in his final spring start last week against the Mariners. Billingsley is one of the best young pitchers out there and this year should be his breakout season. He was prone to a lack of command and high pitch counts last year but he should improve on that this season. Gametime is at 7:10pm.

SF Giants Are Ready for 100 Losses in 2008

The San Francisco Giants embarked on their journey to 100 plus losses by losing to the Dodgers yesterday 5-0. Brad Penny and three relievers shut out the pathetic Giants.

Barry Zito got the loss and his fastball was in the low to mid 80s. The only thing high about Zito is his ERA which is 7.20 after the horrid outing. Zito says his arm is fine and he is not injured. Could Zito have been using steroids and other drugs with the A's?
He used to pitch in the high 80s before but now has no velocity at all. He only struck out one batter all game.

If Zito cannot beat the Fresno Grizzlies, there was no chance he would beat the Dodgers yesterday afternoon. Zito had a tough outing against the Giants Triple A squad last week. Some fans are probably thinking the Giants dumped the wrong Barry.

There was nothing likeable about the game if you were a Giants fan. The pathetic lineup could do nothing right. I wonder how Matt Cain feels as he will be pitching tonight. If he doesn't pitch a perfect game, he probably has no shot of winning tonight.

Don't feel sorry for these unwatchable losers though. Zito and Aaron Rowand got big contracts and the weak economy won't hurt them as much as it hurts the fans. The Giants think their fans are dumb if they continue to watch the worst team in baseball play. It seems the only winners this year are Barry Bonds and KTVU. Bonds doesn't have to carry this team on his back anymore and KTVU doesn't hold the TV rights to Giants games anymore.

SF Giants Are Disrespecting Their Fans

Any Giants fan who renewed their season tickets for the 2008 season must be a gluten for punishment. This season hasn't even started yet as we are still in spring training, but the team is already showing many negative signs.

Injuries are mounting due to the veterans getting older, and the youngsters are underperforming as well.

The Giants are trying to trick the fans into thinking the team is full of hard-nosed gamers. They want you to believe that Kevin Frandsen and Daniel Ortmeier are hot young prospects who every team would covet. The reality is that if you want to see some real good young prospects who play hard, I suggest you check out the Oakland A's across the Bay.

Players such as first baseman Daric Burton and catcher Kurt Suzuki are top prospects who will play hard and have a lot of talent. GM Billy Beane is one of the best GMs in baseball and knows what he is doing by rebuilding with youngsters. The fans in the Easty Bay have great faith in him and their minor league clubs are stacked with potential superstars.

Can you say the same about GM Brian Sabean for the Giants? The Giants and Sabean are just deceiving the fans if they tell everyone that this team is better without Barry Bonds. Fans in San Francisco know how bad the offense was when Bonds was out of the lineup last year due to him taking a day off or having an injury. There won't be any difference this year.

Giants officials wished they had the All Star Game this year instead of last year. Barry Bonds was the main attraction in 2007 due to the home run chase. They also held their fans hostage by making fans purchase season tickets in order to be assured they would get All Star tickets. Many of the very same season ticket holders are now cancelling their season tickets. It appears that Aaron Rowand isn't the attraction and draw that Bonds was. Who would have believed that?

This team has the potential to lose 100 games. Every team in their division got better and improved during the offseason. Barry Zito is already rounding into regular season form. He gave up 8 runs today against the Royals and is now 0-3 this spring.

The Giants are having a horrible spring. They can't hit or pitch well enough to win games. Teams like the Yankees and Red Sox can lose every game during the exhibition season and no one would be worried. A weak team like the Giants need to win games in the spring in order to gain confidence and a winning attitude.

If Sabean was smart, he would have traded Noah Lowry last season. Lowry is now out until the end of April with an arm injury. He has absolutely no trade value at the moment. The Giants sure could have traded him to a team for a bat.

I suggest the Giants swallow their pride and resign Mr.Bonds. This would help their offense and also bring in fans to the ballpark. Unfortunately, I am not the GM or the owner of this downtrodden team. The best way for fans to show their displeasure will be by not attending games. Maybe after seeing many empty green seats will Peter Magowan realize what a big mistake he made in letting Bonds go and resigning Sabean to a contract extension.

Giants Off To A Bad Start in 2008

The San Francisco Giants are off to a terrible start in 2008. This was expected as life without Barry Bonds won't be a lot of fun for Giants fans.

The supposed strength of the team was their pitchers but they have looked terrible this spring. Noah Lowry walked nine batters today as his control problems persist. Barry Zito did not fare too well in his first start and had no control of his off-speed pitches. The only starting pitcher that has gotten off to a good start is Matt Cain.

Life in the clubhouse might be better without Bonds, but this team will be hard pressed to stay out of last place all season long. Chemistry on the team is a lot better with Aaron Rowand joining the roster. He brings a tough attitude to the ballpark every game and you know he will hustle on every play. He also appears to be already well-liked by his teammates.

I saw a newspaper ad today for the Giants with a picture of Rowand at bat. The ad says "Aaron is a Gamer." Does this mean that Rowand is a fan of the Nintendo Wii? Besides sporting a bad team, the Giants decided to include a terrible ad campaign to go along with it. It won't be pretty this year. In fact, it will get real ugly before it gets any better.

Worst Team in Baseball

The San Francisco Giants are the worst team in baseball. This team is pathetic and there is no hope for the near future unless you think Kevin Frandsen is the second coming of Ryne Sandberg or Freddie Lewis will be the next Ricky Henderson. What ever happened to Lance Niekro and Travis Ishikawa? Merkin Valdez anyone? Nothing is worst than a team that is not just bad but also utterly boring. This team is as exciting to watch as watching paint dry. Without Barry Bonds in the lineup, this team is a disaster. Ray Durham and Ryan Klesko batting cleanup instills fear among no pitcher. Matt Cain is 3-11 this season and the Giants bats stay quiet each time he is on the mound. What did he do to tick off all of the hitters? I suggest Cain go apologize and make amends for any transgressions or he might be looking at a 20 loss season. Name one Giant position player besides Bonds who you would pay to watch. You would have to be a sadist to want to watch Dave Roberts misjudge balls off the bat time after time in center field or seeing Ryan Klesko play first base. Losing teams like the Devil Rays and Royals have hope. The Devil Rays are one of the more exciting teams in baseball that no one knows about. B.J. Upton and Carl Crawford are a talented duo and pitcher Scott Kazmir is a ace in waiting. Royals fans see hope in Alex Gordon and Billy Butler. The Washington Nationals even have hope and everyone will rejoice when their new stadium debuts next season. What do Giants fans have to look forward to? How about six more years of Barry Zito?
